Brief History of the Business

Rominart was organized in February 1971 by the spouses Rodrigo V. Jimenez and Amelita O. Jimenez, as a single proprietorship. Capitalization started on a cottage level with an initial investment of PhP 3,000.00 or about US$ 150.00. In 1975 when the company was incorporated, capitalization was increased to PhP 450,000.00 or about US$ 18,000.00. Today it is capitalized to PhP 15 million and has been recognized among the top 5,000 corporations in the country since 1997.

Ninety five percent (95%) of production goes to the export markets in Europe the main buyers being Dutch, English, Germans and Danish. In 1989, Rominart B.C. was established in Vancouver, B.C., Canada to cover the Canadian and Northwestern United States. For a number of years in the early 80’s the company was selling at least 2 x 40ftrs to Sydney & Melbourne per month. However, due to the increased demands in Europe, the company decided to concentrate production capacity to their European buyers.


Mega Rattan Ltd., a Canadian sister company of Rominart based in Vancouver, B.C. was established in 1998 to handle sales in North America and at the same time joining Furniture Fairs in Toronto, High Point-North Carolina, New York and Atlanta, Georgia.
